WHAT LEVEL AM I?
Choosing the right dance level is crucial for steady progress. Jumping into a more advanced level too soon can lead to gaps in technique, which can slow progress and make it harder to build on future skills.
Below is an overview of each class level to help you determine which will best match your skills and experience.
Salsa Level 1
This class is designed for students with little to no salsa experience, or those who have danced socially but lack a solid foundation in the basic steps and core techniques.
Salsa Level 2
Students must be proficient in the three variations of the salsa basic step, demonstrating proper partner hold and technique. Participants should be comfortable leading and following cross-body leads, with and without turns. A strong understanding of musical timing and its relationship to the instruments in a song is also required.
Bachata 1
This class is designed for students with little to no bachata experience, or those who have danced socially but lack a solid foundation in the basic steps and core techniques.
Bachata 2
Students should be comfortable executing the basic steps in all directions, with proper weight transfer to allow for smooth hip movement. A solid understanding of musical timing and its connection to the instruments is essential. Participants should also be familiar with leading and following basic moves such as a change of place, outside turn, and cuddle. The class will build upon traditional footwork and techniques introduced in Bachata 1.
